All About Kath

Kath, grew up in Southend and moved to Milton Keynes in her late teens. Her late mother was a children’s author, writing most weeks in the little girl’s magazine, Twinkle. She would return home from school, to the sound of the electric typewriter keys tapping away. Her mother, would ask her to read the stories she had written, before sending them off to the publisher.

Now Kath is a mother herself, she and her son, discussed The Chocolate Thief, many times, agreeing on what a junior reader would love to see in the book. They have also discussed many other ideas for future stories.

Kath is an avid reader. The first adult novel she read at the age of eleven, was Flowers in the Attic, by V C Andrews. The book inspired her so much, that she went on to read everything else, V C Andrews had written. She aspired to be a writer, that her readers would want to read everything by her.

Upcoming Projects

The idea for Mum Runners came from Kath, training to run the London Marathon herself. She had never run long distance before, she had not long given birth to her son and thought it would be a great idea; having time on her hands, due to being on maternity leave. The training didn’t go to plan, she got an injury and had to pull out of the London Marathon so the idea for Mum Runners was born. When she wrote Mum Runners, she never planned to write a sequel, but her readers were anxious to know what happens to the characters and asked for more. Mum Runners Florida Vacation was created. She enjoyed writing the sequel as the characters are like old friends and she is back in their company. There may be many more novels in the series to follow.
Kath is also interested to write for television. She has completed many scriptwriting courses. She is currently writing a comedy sketch show, with another writer, who she met on a comedy writing course.

The inspiration for ideas comes to Kath all the time; reading a sentence or hearing a conversation, she can turn that snippet of inspiration into a story idea.
